The Oldest Tradition on Campus

Beginning in 1910, the Hudson Relays was created to commemorate the campus move from Hudson, Ohio to Cleveland. The Hudson Relays is a race amongst the classes that put each class' best runners to the test in a 25-mile relay around campus. Each alumni participant will run one or more sections of the 25-mile course. As per tradition, if the same class wins four consecutive years, they are treated to a steak and champagne dinner, courtesy of the president and the provost.

All alumni team members can enjoy the traditional pasta dinner to carb-load the night before the race.
Location: The Spot Saturday, April 25 9 - 9:30 a.m. Breakfast + Check-in
Alumni should arrive on the quad outside of Adelbert Hall and proceed to the Alumni check-in tent, where they will sign a participant waiver, receive their t-shirt, and find out what leg of the race they are running. After checking in, participants can enjoy a complimentary breakfast. 9:30 - 10 a.m. Team Photos

The race will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. and continue until all six teams have completed the course. 12:30 p.m. Closing Ceremony
Not only does the winning team get bragging rights, but they also have their class year engraved upon the Hudson Relays rock outside the south wall of Adelbert Hall. 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Hudson Relays After Party
While there may be some rivalry on the course, there certainly won't be any after the race is over! Our friends from the Graduate Professional Council have invited the entire alumni team to join the Graduate and Professional Student Team at ABC Tavern after the race. You'll be provided with a complimentary drink ticket, which can be used for beer, wine or a mixed drink, and there will be plenty of free food available for all.

Is my registration transferrable?
Registrations are not transferrable to another individual. Each individual will be assigned to a certain leg of the race. If you are unable to compete after registering, please let us know as soon as possible so we can find a replacement.
What if I have a preference of which leg I run?
Please indicate your preferred leg(s) on your registration and we will do our best to accommodate requests. We typically have enough alumni runners so that each participant only runs one leg of the race.
